About Us
I am a remedial massage therapist who practices a wide array of soft tissue work to get results.
Our Story
I came to this profession after leaving the corporate IT/Telco sector. It was through my own pain journey that I came to understand more about the body and how to help it work the way it should. I work on the modern neuroscience method of pain investigation. Looking for restriction in muscle groups of a joint affecting its proper function. Removing the restriction allows the other muscles to work their way out of dysfunction.
Graduating my diploma of remedial massage in 2019 left me hungry to learn more and led me to do further study in Muscle Energy Techniques, Dry Needling, Neuromuscular cupping Therapy as well as manual techniques for non discriminate low back pain, Frozen shoulder, Runners knee to name a minor few.
All methods of massage are available including Swedish, relaxation, therapeutic, remedial, sports remedial and deep tissue. I am sure we can work together on tailoring a treatment that will work for you.
When I am not helping people on the table I enjoy training and instructing as Sensei with Dave Franklin Martial Arts – ChoWaRyu Jiujitsu where I have achieved my Sandan grading or 3rd dan black belt.
What to expect?
I am a soft tissue therapist. I work with the musculoskeletal system to relieve the aches that plague your everyday life. I take the time to listen and help you move easier through your day.
My passion is about resolving your chronic pain patterns. A usual session with me will involve two conversations. The first is to hear from you about what is going on and how it affects your day.
The second is with your body, using palpation and testing to see what might be contributing to what you are experiencing. Then we will treat and coach those muscle patterns to relax and allow you to get on with doing what you want to do.
Our Mission & Vision
My Mission: To enable and assist clients with better movement to promote a happier state of well being.
My Vision: Providing a welcoming, safe and non-judgmental environment to help people reduce their aches, pains and stress. To inspire people to be proactive about their health rather than reactive.
What Do We Value?
Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect for a first time treatment?
Your first time booking in is always an exciting time. We can investigate what are the root causes contributing to what you are experiencing.
Your massage therapist should require you to fill out a health history form. They may also ask more in-depth questions to establish which areas you would like focused on, or if there are any specific conditions needing to be addressed. It is important to list all health concerns and medication so that your therapist can adapt your session to your specific needs without causing any harm. It is also important to specify any allergies so that your therapist may adjust the oil or cream being used during your visit.
First Piece of Advice – SPEAK UP
Why is speaking up so important? This is YOUR session – and the experience all yours. Your therapist wants you to enjoy every minute and benefit as much as possible from the time you spend with them. If you would like anything changed – the pressure, areas worked, position, temperature, music, etc… speak up! You will not hurt your therapists’ feelings by asking for something that will make you feel more comfortable.
When should I avoid getting a massage?
In general, there are a few conditions that would prevent you from getting a massage. Of course, do not schedule an appointment if you are feeling unwell, have a fever, cold, or a skin condition that is contagious. The first trimester of pregnancy is generally considered off-limits for massage, as are active chemotherapy or other intensive medical treatments. If you have a serious medical condition and you are unsure if a massage would be safe for you, massage therapists will recommend that you speak with your primary care provider to get approval first.
Do you talk during a massage?
This is entirely up to you. It is your time on the table. Many enjoy a chat whilst they get treatment. Also the way I treat is very interactive, so there is a lot of checking in with you and instruction on movement.
However, if it is a relax or therapeutic massage we can dispense with a lot of that and just put on some chill vibes and go with the flow.
Your call, it’s your session.
How much time should I book for a massage?
This is always an interesting one.
First time treatment should always be an hour, to allow time for assessment, testing and treatment. Then we formulate a plan for any futher treatment if required.
A general rule of thumb is that I would allow 1 hour for multiple areas that are causing complaint. That way we can treat all the underlying issues.
A follow up treatment might only be 45 minutes because we got the initial stuff out of the way.
A targeted treatment is 30 minutes and really only for treating one specific area. Like neck or shoulder or leg.
Do not be the one to book 30 minutes and then ask to have neck, shoulder, lower back and hip s done. It just isn’t possible.
Some clients value their time on the table and will book 90 minutes on the table for either a whole host of things going on or full body restorative treatment allowing time for most of the major muscle groups.
What should I wear to a massage?
You will only ever be asked to disrobe to a level that is comfortable for yourself and is practicle for treatment.
There is no need to remove lower garments for example if we are just working upper body.
I will also factor in personal comfort and cultural considerations whilst on the table.
At all times you will be appropriately draped and only the body area that is being worked on will be temporarily uncovered. Then covered as we move to the next area.
Underwear must be worn at all times!!
A massage session is no time to go commando. It may be comforatble for you, but not the therapist. There is also the hygeine factor to consider.
Special Treatment:
Sometimes we may do a session that involves “functional cupping” which is movement with cups on. Or Percussion range of motion. For these more “active” sessions I would recommend wearing a pair of comfortable shorts and the ladies perhaps a sports bra or crop top.
How often should I get a massage?
The short answer is as often as you like, or finances allow.
The reality is depending upon your goals.
If you are booking in to get a chronic pain condition under control then I would expect an initial consult followed by two follow ups over the course of three weeks. By three treatments we should have made good inroads into making you feel better and can push the next appointment out to four weeks, depending on your body response. After this I usually see my clients once a month or 6-8 weeks depending on their needs and preferences.
How do I book an appointment?
Booking an appointment with PCRMT is easy! It is best to book online via the website. You will see a live calendar showing my free appointments available. I do tend to be quite busy and cant always answer calls so please make sure you leave a message with your name and I will call you back as soon as I can. Please note that if you do not leave a message I will not return your call. You can also send me a text message. Let me know who you are and when you would like an appointment and I will let you know whats available.
Ive tried calling but there is no answer?
I’m sorry! Please note that I am only one person and I am generally very busy. Im often massaging all day and if im not massaging im having a quick toilet or meal break! Please leave me a voicemail or send me a text if you would like a call back. Sometimes at the end of the day I find up to a dozen missed calls and i simply do not have time to call every single one back. So unless you leave a message your call will not be returned. Available appointments can be seen on the online booking. If you dont see any it means I am booked out.
How can I pay for my appointment?
We offer cash, card or pay id on the day. A lot of our clients like to prepay their treatment in advance. If you would like this option, discuss with us to set up a prepay account.
Health care rebates are available on all Remedial treatments and our provider numbers will be clearly printed on your invoice after treatment. You can then go online or use your app to claim your rebate.
